As long as your grandma has no medical conditions that would prevent her from riding with us and will abide by our safety recommendations, she is more than welcome. We do allow children, but they must ride with an adult. See our terms and conditions for more details.

We work to schedule our trips during the cooler times of the day. If it’s raining and we need to cancel, we will work with you to reschedule as soon as possible. We do not give refunds for weather-related cancellations. See our terms and conditions for more information.

Yes, helmet use is mandatory and you must wear it whenever you are on board our bikes but no need to bring or buy one, we provide it for you.

No, an experienced and licensed guide will be driving the motorcycle. That gives you the chance to see the sights without the distraction of driving.

We only give tours or rides to guest, but do not rent our motorcycles for others to ride them without one of our drivers. We only rent them to be used as a photo shoot prop and with one of our drivers maneuvering it.

Yes, sidecar motorcycles are absolutely safe for adults and for children. They are not fast vehicles but built for pleasant cruising.

Terms and Conditions

  • Use of a helmet is mandatory.
  • Remain seated at all times while the motorcycle engine is running.
  • Keep your hands inside the sidecar at all times.
  • If you feel tired, dizzy, anxious, overheated or experience other conditions that make you want to stop and/or take a rest, please tell us immediately.
  • Children’s safety is the full responsibility of the adult riding with them.

We will pick up and drop off you and your party for free at your hotel or other location within Merida’s “Centro Historico”. For other locations, an additional fee will apply.

We endeavor to make riding with us a safe and enjoyable experience. Nevertheless, the use of our services is at your own risk and responsibility as with any other activities involving a vehicle in motion.

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours from the booking time, may not have a refund but the tour may be rescheduled.
  • Cancellations between 24 and 48 hours from the booking time, may have up to 80% refund or the tour may be reschedule.
  • Cancellations with more than 48 hours from the booking time, may have up to 100% refund or the tour may be rescheduled.

If you forget something inside the sidecar or on the motorcycle, we will do our best to get it back to you. If you happen to have left something behind at one of the stops on the tour, we’ll do our best to get it and return it to you. Do keep in mind that it is the rider’s responsibility to ensure that he or she is in possession of all personal belongings during and following our tour. Sidecar Adventures is not responsible to compensate or offer replacement for those items lost or damaged during the tour, nor for items left behind inside our vehicles after the tour.

Refunds and Cancellations

The tropical weather in Yucatan can change suddenly, especially during the rainy season. If bad weather forces us to cancel your booking, we will work with you to reschedule as soon as possible at no extra charge to you. We do not give refunds in this case.

If the weather looks inclement on the day of your tour, please check with us and/or make sure you provide us with your contact information. Don’t assume the trip is cancelled if it’s raining; the weather can change very suddenly here. If you do not show up for your booking it will count as a cancellation and is non-refundable.

If weather conditions change during a tour, it will at the discretion of your host whether or not to continue the tour. Your safety is our foremost concern. If bad weather severely limits or hampers our tour, you will be compensated for the lost time.

If we experience mechanical problems, we will either extend the tour to compensate for the lost time, or reschedule to another mutually convenient time. If those options aren’t possible, we will refund a partial cost of the tour.

If a customer does not show up for a booked tour within the following guidelines, it will be considered a no show and no refund or re-schedule will be made:

  • For 1 hour portfolio-item, 10 minutes tolerance
  • For 2 hour portfolio-item, 15 minutes tolerance
  • For 4 hour to full day portfolio-item, 20 minutes tolerance

If a client does not show up to a confirmed booking, there will not be any kind of refund or re-scheduling of the tour.

Restrictions

All passengers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers up to 10 years old are only allowed to ride inside the sidecar, not on the motorcycle. Riders from ages 11 – 17 years old are allowed to ride as a motorcycle passenger behind the tour host, but only with the permission of the accompanying adult.

The safety of all minors is the full responsibility of the accompanying adult.

We reserve the right to refuse boarding of the motorcycle or sidecar to persons suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Your safety is our top priority.

If you have any major medical conditions or you are pregnant or suspect you are pregnant, we recommend you wait to take a tour with us at another time. If you are unsure whether or not a medical condition you have will affect your ability to tour with us, please discuss this with us beforehand.
